WHAT SETS STYLUS DJs APART?

We are reliable, professional, music-loving DJs who keep the party flowing without gimmicks or over-the-top hype.

We pay close attention to your Must Plays, your Do Not Plays, and your openness to guest requests. No requests? No problem! Preparing a thoughtful pool of music, reading the crowd and adapting to the moment is what makes the party come alive.

Many of our clients are looking for an alternative to the typical cheesy DJ - someone who really "gets" them and their musical goal.

Crate digger, collector, musician, former college radio DJ? Do you go to concerts, follow Pitchfork lists, listen to independent radio?

SERVICES/RATES

BASIC PACKAGE

The Basic Package is perfect for Receptions and includes:

  • 4 hours (minimum charge)
  • Travel within the DJ's home city
  • One main sound system (2 speakers) for one room or area and music program via laptop
  • One handheld wireless microphone for speaking parts of the ceremony, toasts, speeches, etc.
  • MC services (announcements, introductions, etc.) by the DJ
  • Customized song pool and unlimited advance consultation
  • Hands-on coordination with your vendors
  • Proof of liability insurance for your venue

Rates are tiered based on the DJ's current experience. The Basic Package is between:

$1000-1300

For Weddings/Mitzvahs on Fridays and Saturdays, April-October

$800-1170

For Weddings/Mitzvahs Sunday-Thursday (except major holidays/holiday eves), or November-March, and all other Events

  • Additional hours, equipment, and/or travel can be arranged for an extra fee.
  • Discounts for in-house sound and referrals may apply.
  • Please use the Downloadable Rate Sheet as a guide, and contact us for a customized quote.
  • There are no hidden fees, charges or taxes. Gratuities are not expected but always appreciated!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are you available on my date? Will you take gigs on short notice?

Please get in touch to find out! While pricing is transparent, we prefer to keep our private event schedule private, and will always do our best to accommodate last-minute bookings.

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes, and we will provide proof for your venue on request.

What payment methods do you accept?

Checks, Venmo, PayPal and Credit Cards. Please make checks payable to Jane Elizabeth (first name + last name).

What kind of deposit do you require?

Approximately 1/3 to reserve the date, with the balance due the day of the event. Please contact us for a blank copy of the contract.

Will the DJ require a meal at my event?

Yes – vendor meals are customary and always appreciated. We generally prefer to eat discreetly from the DJ table and don't take many breaks.

Will the DJ drink alcohol at my event?

No.

Will the DJ make announcements?

We are totally comfortable making any announcements you need to keep the flow of the party going.

Will the DJ take requests from guests?

We love taking requests and interacting with your guests! If you prefer otherwise, we will politely decline or suggest a song or style we've already agreed on.

Can we give the DJ a must play/do not play list?

Yes, this is strongly encouraged, and we will ask for some of your favorite bands and genres and those your guests may enjoy. Otherwise, you may have as much or as little control over the song pool as you like, and we'll take care of the rest.

Who provides the actual music?

We do! Chances are we already have what you need or can get it via our subscription service. If not, we will find a solution with you.

How many songs will the DJ be able to play?

15-20 songs per hour. We consider it precious real estate.

Can you edit or loop a particular song to fit our needs?

Yes, basic edits are included, and are often used for processionals, recessionals, or other milestone events such as introductions and cake cutting.

We would like some of the music to reflect a particular culture (e.g., Jewish, Spanish, Indian, etc.) – can you accommodate?

Definitely!

Do you book events other than weddings, like corporate events, bar/bat mitzvahs and birthday parties?

Yes – let's discuss!

What is your contingency plan?

DJs don't take sick days, but in case of an emergency with advance notice, we would do our best to find a replacement and make your shared timeline and music organizer available to him or her. We are currently a team of 5 and have more in training.

We prefer/require a female DJ...

If you are looking for a female DJ for any reason, we currently have several amazing ladies on the team.
