Jane Elizabeth, non-traditional wedding and event DJ serving greater New York, Philadelphia and beyond
Whether your tastes are mainstream or offbeat, being a non-traditional wedding DJ simply means that I am open-minded, adaptable and provide highly personalized and responsive service.
Music is one element in a wedding that can truly be as unique as you are. I take the time to listen, ask questions and make suggestions while curating a custom-made soundtrack to one of the most important days of your life.
If the musical goal of your event is to reflect your personalities, to make a great dance party, or a little of both, I put the energy and attention to detail into getting the balance right.
A little more about me:
• DJ and independent record label owner since 2001 - first gig: CBGB in NYC
• Well-versed in all genres and time periods of popular music
• Alternative, indie, and anything outside of the mainstream is near and dear to my heart
• Host of The Breakfast Club at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia from 2010-2015
• Host of Tainted Love 80s dance party at The Bell House in Brooklyn from 2016-Present
Having been entirely self-employed for over 15 years, I am extremely organized, efficient and handle all of the behind-the-scenes details and booking for Stylus. Whether I'm in front of the computer or behind the DJ booth, my clients describe me as being "friendly," "enthusiastic," and "very easy to work with."

1/3 deposit to reserve the date, with the balance due the day of the event. I accept Checks, Venmo, PayPal and Credit Cards.
Are you available on my date?
Please contact me to find out! While pricing is 100% transparent, I prefer to keep my private event schedule private. If I am already booked (business more than doubled between 2015 and 2016), I will refer you to an experienced partner, and we are training two new associates to come on board this year.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes, and will provide proof for your venue on request.
What payment methods do you accept?
Checks, Venmo, PayPal and Credit Cards. Please make checks payable to Jane Elizabeth (first name + last name).
What kind of deposit do you require?
Approximately 1/3 to reserve the date, with the balance due the day of the event. Please contact me for a blank copy of the contract.
Will you require a meal at my event?
Yes - vendor meals are customary and always appreciated. I generally prefer to eat discreetly from the DJ table and don't take many breaks.
Will you drink alcohol at my event?
No, but I am happy to have a drink with you another day.
Where can we see you in action?
At the monthly Tainted Love 80s Dance Party at The Bell House in Brooklyn. Also happy to meet with you in person whenever practical.
Will you make announcements?
I am totally comfortable making any announcements you need to keep the flow of the party going.
Will you take requests from guests?
I love taking requests and interacting with your guests! If you prefer otherwise, I will politely decline or suggest a song or style we've already agreed on.
Can we give you a must play/do not play list?
Yes, this is strongly encouraged, and I will ask for some of your favorite bands and genres and those your guests may enjoy. Otherwise, you may have as much or as little control over the song pool as you like, and I'll take care of the rest.
Who provides the actual music?
I do! Chances are I already have what you need or can get it via my subscription service. Downloads on the fly are also possible for requests.
How many songs will you be able to play?
15-20 songs per hour. I consider it precious real estate.
Can you edit or loop a particular song to fit our needs?
Yes, basic edits are included, and are often used for processionals, recessionals, or other milestone events such as introductions and cake cutting.
We would like some of the music to reflect a particular culture (e.g., Jewish, Spanish, Indian, etc.) - can you accommodate?
Yes, I have incorporated these types of requests successfully in the past, with some direction from the client as needed.
Do you do events other than weddings, like corporate events, bar/bat mitzvahs and birthday parties?
Yes, but the rates and attention to detail are the same.
What kind of equipment do you use?
- Electro-Voice brand speakers (4x 12", 2x 15", 18" subwoofer)
- 17" touchscreen laptop with internal mixer and external sound card
- Virtual DJ software
- Line 6 handheld wireless microphone
- Shure wired microphones
Do you have a contingency plan?
I bring identical laptops, plus your shared music organizer and day of schedule are all backed up to the cloud. In case of an emergency with advance notice, I would do my best to find a replacement and make my gear and notes available to him or her. I currently have one experienced partner in Brooklyn, and am training two new associates to come on board in 2017.

Dani & Nathan, Philadelphia, PA
Jane read the crowd on the dance floor perfectly. We had people raving about the music for days after, ranging from older guests to our youngest friends. The dance floor was packed all night!
Leigh-Anne & Ryan, Asbury Park, NJ
Literally, we danced all night. People are still talking about the music three months later. We gave her guidelines, but freedom to feel the crowd and play what she thought would keep people dancing. It worked.
Nettie & Dave, Philadelphia, PA
We feel so lucky to have found Jane Elizabeth of Stylus DJ Entertainment to DJ our wedding! Everyone danced for hours, non-stop! We can't imagine that night without Jane as our DJ, she's incredible!
Alice & Alex, Philadelphia, PA
Jane Elizabeth and the music were one of the absolute gems from our wedding. She completely understands how music can impact the flow and the feel of a wedding. She just gets it, and we are so grateful we found her.
Tory & Nate, Philadelphia, PA
We absolutely loved working with Jane...I would highly recommend Jane to anyone looking for a DJ who has great taste in music, and who really listens to her clients. Thank you for making our wedding rock!
Kate & Jorge, Newark, NJ
She was wonderful to work with, accommodated our tastes, and seemed to have a great instinct for what we wanted ('no' to Electric Slide requests, 'yes' to Portuguese folk music). We would highly recommend her DJ services to anyone.
Leah & John, Washingtonville, NY
As soon as we spoke to Jane, we knew she'd be perfect. She really knows her stuff, no matter the genre. Even though it was mid day during a heatwave, and the AC couldn't keep up, everyone danced and had a great time.
Amy & Joel, Philadelphia, PA
Jane was the hero of our wedding. She completely understood our very specific and idiosyncratic musical tastes, working with us to provide the perfect playlist for each part of the evening.
Meredith & Tom, Highlands, NJ
My husband found Jane and we could not be happier with her DJ services at our wedding. She's really phenomenal!
Lauren & Leandro, New York, NY
Perfect interpretation of the kind of music we like! Jane did such an amazing job keeping everyone entertained all night. Strongly recommended!
Kate & Zack, New York, NY
Jane was such a pleasure to work with and an amazing DJ for our wedding. She was recommended to us by a close friend and we could not have found a better DJ if we had spent months looking.
Lauren & Ian, Long Island, NY
Jane was exactly what my husband and I were looking for! We cannot recommend her enough! Guests kept asking about Jane because she was such a hit! My brother even inquired about hiring her for another party.
Miranda & Chris, Philadelphia, PA
Jane was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She has a great knowledge of all different kinds of music and had no trouble learning our unique styling and putting together an absolutely perfect playlist for our wedding.
Becky & Jake, New York, NY
Holy Wedding DJ, Batman! Jane is incredible. I had a lot of anxiety about finding a DJ who would understand my somewhat eclectic taste and dislike of traditional wedding music. Finding Jane was a miracle.
Gretchen & Doro, Brooklyn, NY
Jane was a stellar DJ. We had a queer wedding and wanted a hip young vibe, but also lots of toasts and with traditional wedding timeline. Organized and nice! All Past Reviews
